I have been making some occaisional trips to Anna to focus on catfish. During the summer last year I was able to catch gizzard shad quite easily for cut bait, although did not quite figure out the right locations to catch the catfish consistently. I hear that herring are the preferred bait winter/spring but I'm usually fishing in the afternoon/evening and not out in the early AM hours to net any herring. When does the catfish bite transition from herring to shad? And where can I try to net some threadfin shad instead of the larger gizzards? I'm trying to catch those nasty catfish that keep bothering you striper and bass fishermen! ;D
Oh yeah, I tried chicken livers and worms but that mostly attracted small bullheads.
