My Oldest son and I fished Sat, 3/17 and Sun 3/18 and got skunked. We been on the lake for a total of about 6 times over the past year and it seems that we are going down hill in our catch. I read every fishing report that I could find and threw everything that was being successful to others and still no hits. We are not newbies to bass fishing but are not out every weekend either. Are we the only ones that got skunked this past weekend or are there others that share our pain. I know the elements were tough but we braved them as well as we could. Any suggestions???

I fished Sunday in 46 - 49 degree water temps and only had two bites. This lake is very difficult during a cold front. I have found that most of the fish in the downlake and mid lake region tend to suspend during these times. We had a club tournament Suday with only a hand full of us weighing in fish. I think 7 out of 20 weighed fish. My opinion of the weekend is the bass shut down with the temps. Damn it was cold!

Thanks JJ for helping with the confidence. I can relate now to what some of the others where experiencing over the weekend. It was a very tough weekend to try to get rid of the cabin fever blues. But when we left home Sat Morning to head south to Anna, We had 6 inches of snow. I guess looking at the whitecaps on the lake was better than looking at the snow drifts all weekend.

senkohead, have you every thought of going out with a guide. i went out with teddy carr last year, and it really opened my eyes as how to fish anna. i went out with him and let him know in advance i was just as interested in finding out what i was doing wrong as i was about catching fish. it was the best money i have ever spent. i fished 7 tournys with the club im in at anna the previous 2 years and never finished better than 4th, last year the club fished anna 3 times and i finished 1st in each tourny. it turns out i was making simple mistakes and now once i get on fish i stay with them all season long. most days on anna after the spawn i catch 20 to 40 fish a day, big fish last year was 8.3 along with a 6 1/2. g3mike p.s. there are other guides on the lake, but i like teddy good ole boys personality and his ability to teach while keeping the day fun. IMHO

I agree with the guide comment - I've been out a few times with Glenn Briggs and it helped me understand where to fish during different times of the year. I've also became a fan of the jerkbait during this time of year. I generally fish mid lake and up and usually concentrate on secondary points in creeks and bays and hardly ever stay in one place for very long. I have success with crankbaits, spinner baits, YUM dingers, sassy shads and poppers....

I appreciate all of the comments here. It must be the southern hospitality! We did consider the guide approach, It seemed like a good idea and now its seems like a great idea. We live 2.5 hrs from the lake and with the cost of gas and other associated costs it would be nice to have some success. Thanks again to all!!!
