When I don't make the hour plus trip from Gainesville I generally go to Fountainhead Park and fish the Occaquan.
Once a year a group of us go to the Matawaska River in Ontario for 5 days to catch smallies, Walleye, Pike, LM, and rock bass.

At times I end up on a few solo guided trips cause my wife would rather sit on the beach

I live about 5 mins from the south river in Grottoes which most everybody fishes for trout but it has a great lm and sm population. there have been days when I have caught 16 fish in 2 hours. And there are some huge bass in it for the size of the river. i spent alot of time there.

I live in Hopewell about 2 minutes from the ramp, so I fish the James 90% of the time for big blue cats. Been getting into some largemouth fishing lately and occasionally luck into a striper or two on the james as well. From reading some posts on here it sounds like I need to get my butt over to Lake Anna sometime soon!

Nightfisher - glad to have you aboard - looks like you are the man on the cats! Would love to see your thoughts on what to do with the spawn soon coming to an end for the cats.
