Out on the water at 5:45 until 11:30. Fished the grass right before Stubbs bridge on the right heading north. Threw a POP R, and shakey head worm - but no hits....Went up to the Pamueky and picked of 4 dinks and a 2 lb'er - all on shakey head using a 4" YUM dinger tail dipped in chartreuse. I threw a couple of different crankbaits and had some follows but no strikes. I always catch fish with the YUM dinger. Water was 75.5 - 77 degrees. Got real hot and real choppy real fast...I'm going to wait till next weekend as I imagine the lake is going to have allot of activity through Monday. I hope you all have a safe and great holiday weekend....

I figured it would be bad there. Headed to do some more on the river and maybe get a few smallies and avoid some of the other boat traffic.
The YUM dinger is a heck of a bait.

Headed out every morning over the weekend. Caught some dinks off the docks just uplake of Rose Valley and caught a 3 lb'er on the community dock on the left where it necks down. Fishing an unweighted 5" fluke. Also caught a few dinks on the 208 rip rap. They seemed to be there all weekend.
I ran up to the Woodlawn flats Mon a.m. and it was getting pounded pretty hard by fisherman. I only saw one fish boated though and I didn't get a tap. I imagine the fish are in spawn mode uplake??
Pretty slow overall even after trying a varitey of locations secondary points, docks, dike rip rap, Buggs islands, primary points. Also tried a variety of lures - fluke, carolina, rattle traps, spinner baits, crankbaits, and chuggers. Man this is a tough lake. Just out of curiosity, what is considered a "good day" fishing - how many, what size? Obviously, any day i can get out I consider great but I love the challenge of learning a new lake/techniques. Fishing Lake Erie now through summer, I consider a good day 30-40 bass with at least 6 in that 4lb range and maybe a few 5 lbers if its hot. Not sure what to expect on Anna pounding the water for a full day. Just want to level set my expectations.
Thanks for all the great advice and tips. I caught the 208 bass as a result of another post....thanks, they were a blast to catch.

A good day for me on Anna is in the 20's - but you have got to have a great am - once the sun gets high the bite slows. if you got 10 by 10 you are on your way. I fish primarily from the 719 bridges to the dam. Monday I didn't go uplake past high pt. I fish fast - I guess I am a sight power fisherman. about 10 or 11 am if the sun is cooking I head for deep docks 10' or deeper and throw a 1/4 jig head with a 5" kalin - smoke salt and pepper - its the only color i use. I count it down to about 6' and reel it in they either kill it or don't. Sometimes right near the 719 bridge in the N Anna side (where u were Mon) you can catch a bunch in the am. I go down the rip rap on the right if u are looking uplake at bridge - If you catch a cpl on that rip rap you can usually find a bunch up there. If there are none on the rip rap usually I won't catch any up there. I don't know why that is - but that is my test for that area. I grew up fishing Ontario and u won't find the #'s or size in Anna that u find in the Great Lakes. I been here 15 years - took a few to figure it out. its funny too becuz alot of these people don't know what white caps are - the chop on the lake Mon with all the boat traffic is like Ontario 24/7 - when you are between waves and can't see anything but water - that is tough fishing. (but you get good action on a jig) Good luck to you - hope I have been a help

Hey Bill1wts do you seem to have a nice slow drop with the 1/4 ounce and 5" of plastic - is that the presentation you are going for?

I wouldn't call it a slow drop. about 1' per second - I don't consider that real slow - the 5" grub has a small profile - not like a chunk of pork or a creature - probably a medium fall - I am not good at slow, patient fishing. I count it down about 2/3 of what the depth of the water is on a tight line and start reeling I may throw to the same spot 5 or 6 times if I think that a fish should be there then I am on my way. Hope that answered your question.
