Was on the water at 5:45am - Water temp was 82.5, launched out of Sturgeon Creek and headed north. Pulled up short of the 208 bridge and threw Pop R's on the right hand side about 200 yards from the bridge - had 2 quick hits. The fish seemed really active, but not real aggressive. I caught another on a chart tipped YUM Dinger. Headed north toward Jetts Island and noticed all kinds of activity on the top of the water, slowed down and looked at my radar - it was loaded with bait fish and large humps. Quickly scrambled to tie on (and find) a sassy shad. Through both the sassy and Pop R' - had a few swirls, but nothing. Trolled a DT22 until a wave runner started doing 360's a round me and all the fish dispersed. One thing I did notice is quite a few stripper fisherman use that area to catch live bait. I noticed there was a ton of it in there between the park and island. Finally ran up to a favorite spot on the Pamunkey and chucked a crankbait landing a nice 6 lb catfish, 2 small bass and 2 sunfish of some king - took a pic on a disposable - so I'll post it in a few days. Got off the water @ 12:30PM. Day ended with the water temp @ 83.5....

Kids got home July 13th so me and Zachari took Sat to get caught up on things. We were on water at 4:00am first fish was about 5:00 am on pop-r. I caught 5 on pop'r 4 nice - 1 dink. Z got 5 also 1 on pop'r 4 on minnows. He also caught a few crappie and a cpl of cats. We caught about 50 sunfish on the pop-r. Water temp was 82 to 85 depending on where we were. we fished from dike 2 to a little up river from Christopher Run. We caught the same number but his 5 would have out weighed my 5. All he had to say was he had a good teacher. I don't know about that but he can fish. We seen balls of bait fish all over the lake Sat - in places we don't usually see them. They must have had a good spring - should bode well for the other fish. Here are some pics - This is a new pop-r - they call it bubble gum - but it is hot pink - we call it "piglet" Now here is a weird deal. Z caught this fish on a minnow - It seemed healthy other than this hook. At first I thought maybe it swallowed the hook and someone cut the line and it passed it this far - but I don't think that is it - either they snagged it or they stuck the hook here on purpose - it will not come out and it had no rust on it yet. Good luck everyone and tight lines - Bill Hey gman - have any luck in Wisc.?
