So I have always wanted to fish one but fear I suck too bad - anyone else like to do one but worried you didnt stack up?
I would rather see some good ol boys throw some cash in a kitty and duke out and deal out the pay with out all the glitz and glammer - and not have 50 other boats.

I dont bother to fish the big tournys because of the attitudes more than anything else. i fish a small club 10 to 15 boats. and on those occasions we fish the same body of water as the big tournys, you see nothing but attitude, you would think its life or death for some of the guys. in the end it always turns we can compete with anybody, if your patterns work out if not you atleast learn what went wrong. if you want to join a small club of good ole boys drop me an email. we fish local waters and have anything from small john boats with trolling motors to 20ft bass boats. mikechipony@aol.com

I've never fished a tourney either, but would like to give it a go sometime!
I don't worry about how I might stack up, I've been fishing a long time, and I do it for fun. But a little competition would be fun too.
In the past I was in bowling leagues, and I played basket ball, and I kick boxed, and all involved some competition, but I did it because I enjoyed it, not because there was some prize to be won.
I'm more interested in having a good time than how much money might be involved. (But winning enough to pay for my fishing would be great!)
I figure that I've got over 40 years of fishing experience, but I'm also still learning. I'm sure there's things I can learn from fishing in tournaments, and maybe teach someone else some things too.
Although, I would love to fish professionally, and who wouldn't want to make a living doing something you love, I don't have any aspirations to become a pro.
I fish alone most of the time, or with my kids, and my long time fishing buddy passed away a few years back. I would like to spend some time fishing tournaments, and maybe also find a few new fishing buddies in the process!

Hey Mikey glad to see you're on here!!! Mike gives good advice the bigger circuits have a lot of folks like ME!!! Type A high strung full of ourselves, competition freaks!!! I have a very good reputation as a guide (I think) I love meeting folks and conversation, and teaching my trade, and will die to put you on fish (even if I have to fish against you in a Tx) because that's my job and man/woman should dispatch themselves to be the best at their job. But as a Tx fisherman you would hate my guts. For me competition defines my whole being always has since Pee-Wee football. When I played high school ball if the coach would have told me to go over to the other sideline and hit the opposing coach I would not have blinked. If you're like me that's where you need to be, if not Mikes a good guy and you would have a blast with him and his buds.
Hey Mikey stay away from my rocks next month ;D

Well Teddy at least your honest enough to admit it! Just kidding - its that drive that makes you very good at putting people on fish and keeps people coming back for more. Nothing wrong with that at all. I would think that if you want to fish big tx and you dont have that kind of drive then it tougher. Maybe I will catch up with Mike. I dont have a glitzy boat at all but it runs and I like to fish with fellow bubbas - if for nothing else then pride.

its nice to here from you teddy. i liked the talk you gave at bassarama, and i hate to admit it but i think i broke your streak... i caught an 8-6 (hoochie mama) off a rock near sturgeon's when i was coming back from uplake last fall. sorry. lunker, i dont have a fancy boat either, its an 18ft aluminum g3 its not the best boat out there but its paid for. its not the boat that catches fish its the person. the first year i fished this club a guy in a 12ft row boat won, never got more than 500 yards from the ramp. if you do decide you might want to try some tournys check out or website and dont be afraid to call, my numbers on the website if you have any questions. you wont get rich fishing with us, but you might win a nice trouphy and meet some really good guys P.S.- teddy, see you on the rapp. mike c http://bigbass__1.tripod.com/BASSSIYE/
