Got out a little later than I usually do on Sat. Fished from 7:30 - 2:30. Water temps were 78* in Sturgeon creek to 76* in the Pamunkey. There was cloud cover until 1 or 1:30 which made the air temps very comfortable. I threw 2 crankbaits most of the day. A Rapala DT6 and DT 10. Caught 10 fish all in the 1 - 2 lb range. Some smacked the lures like they were trying to take my rod out of my hands - some were like catching a wet paper sack. I have been struggling to catch fish the last few times out - and decided to try something a little different with my retrieve. I usually kind of run and gun with my crankbaits - yesterday I retrieved them real slow and made several casts to the same point or hump - very similar to retrieving a sassy shad or swim bait in the dead of winter. it seemed to the trick for me. Also noticed yesterday, the traffic on the lake was very light - mostly fishermen - made for a great day on the water....
