Launched at Anna Pt at 7:00 am fished till 4:00 pm. Water temp 76 to 80 degrees. Got 1 dink on a popper early, had a 5lbr bust me off under a deep dock between spilts and 1st bridge on N Anna side. Caught the close to 5 lbr off a brush pile on same side of splits. Z caught his off a dock. We were using 5" Kalin grubs on 1/4 oz jig head. I lost 3 or 4 nice fish. We fished the deepest docks we could find from dike 2 up past the splits. As for boat traffic - it could have been July 4th - people and jet skis everywhere. My opinion - fish are still in summer mode - there were no bait fish in the coves - no bass shallow - no gulls - nothing crashing shad - the water is still way to warm for fall patterns. The big fish made me feel 1/2 way good about the day. Tight lines

Bill -
I saw some seagulls and baitfish in coves on Saturday - think the cloud cover really helped - Also caught a couple decent bass that were real pale - looked like they'd been hunkered down deep for a while. I think they're ready to move and it won't take but a couple of days in the sixties and nights in the forties. Suppose to cool down a little by the weekend - I hope so.....

I wish we would get a good frost and some rain.
