My son and I have fished togethewr for a little while and always enjoy the fishing and boating at the lake. My son keeps watching these fishing shows of the walleye being caught n the great lakes - ever since he found out that there are walleye in lake anna he has been dinging me to try and catch them. I am the last guy on earth that knows anything about walleye.
Can someone help me with lures or baits to use, general areas to look for them or water depths. We have a little 14 foot john boat and get around the lake as long as there isnt too much traffic. Any help would be great, would love to see him nab a walleye this summer.
Thanks Greg.

Interesting read, I wonder if they have anything from the last year or so, I see that article is a few years old. I wouldnt have thought that they would be seeing the walleye so shallow in Lake Anna. Might have to give it a go.

I did catch a small one whiul fishing for crappie last year. I thought I had a bloomer of a crappie. Turns out to be a walleye. I heard two guys saying live bait in the Pumunkey was where they went. Mine hit a medium size minnow on a small jig head.

Lippers, how has the crappie fishing been lately? Are you finding them around the bridges and drop offs or are you looking for structure out in the lake?

Greg, Walleyes can be caught for the next two months at the 3rd Dike, right up on the rocks. You don't have to have a boat, just park at the parking lot there and try around the rocks. It is best to fish at night, and you can take a spotlight and shine into the water and actually see their eyes glow. Small pearl grubs will catch them. If you fish by boat, put out at Lake Anna Beach Marina and work the left gravel flat to the left of the current all the way up to the Dike. Good Luck, Jim Hemby
