I have fished there just twice but when I did, twin tail grubs with 1/8th once sinker, weightless wacky rigs, and a very light weighted carolina rig worked ok. Shallow stumps, points and docks. Both times I fished it the winds blew like yesterday, Jan 1st so my location options were limited. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advise. I plan on giving it a try. Maybe the weather will cooperate. I plan on the weekend of the 16th -17th. Relatives have a house on that side and invited me to bring the baot for the weeknd. Can't really get any info from them because they really are not into the pursuit, if you know what I mean.

Re: The Hot Side « Reply #1 on Apr 4, 2007, 9:21am »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the hot side is very clear. visability is 10 ft plus in some areas. like the name the water is much warmer than normal, i normally dont start fishing there till late november and then quit around the begining of march. In the dead of winter the water by dike 1 is the warmest and cools as it travels to dike 3. dike one stays in the 60's for the most part in the winter, dike 3 will be in the 50's. the hot side is totally private and you must gain access through someone to fish it. but it is worth it, there is nothing like watching the snow pile up in the boat while slinging a buzzbait in feburary. mike c

Hey Outfishinu, welcome, what size cats have you seen around here? Was thinking about trying it - there is so much of the lake that I dont even feel like I have fished.

the fish are currently schooling and hungry, for topwater the buzzbait has been good and so has a popper and a sammy. the senko has been bringing the biggest fish to the boat, but not great numbers, try dike 2 with a senko and you should catch 10 fish up to 4 lbs. try small cranks near the bridge to elk creek. and try the subsurfce mound on dike 1 for numbers. the carolina rig will always produce. fish should be in 10ft or less. but remember most will be schooling so you may have to follow them. mike c
